On Monday 19th December, a national campaign to raise awareness of NHS-111 Online (Get help for your symptoms – NHS 111) will be launched, aiming to ease some of the current pressure on the telephony system where patient queries can be dealt with through the website instead.
The online platform (111.nhs.uk) will prompt patients to follow a triage process similar to that of the telephony service, based on their symptoms. In the way that NHS 111 call handlers do now, the patient will be given specific advice which could include to contact their GP, to visit an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) or walk-in service, to go to an Emergency Dept or to look after themselves at home, as examples.
Please remember that from Mon 19th Dec, you can visit 111.nhs.uk as an alternative to ringing the NHS 111 phone line (e.g. outside of surgery hours). The new system will be promoted nationally and locally on TV and radio as well as on local social media platforms
