Out of Hours

The Out of Hours service is available Monday to Friday from 6:30pm through until 8:00am, as well as for 24 hours on Saturdays, Sundays and on Bank Holidays.

To contact the Out of Hours service, simply ring the main surgery telephone number: 01525 373111 or 01525 378387 and your call will automatically be transferred.

The service is provided by Hertfordshire Urgent Care (HUC) with telephone calls managed by NHS111.  HUC will let us know of any out of hours contacts so that we can update our patients’ records accordingly.

Out of Hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and/or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

Please note:  if you have any comments/queries/feedback on the above out of hours service, these should be directed to HUC via the following contacts during office hours:

  • Telephone: 01234 967075

Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)

Urgent Treatment Centres provide medical help when it’s not a life-threatening emergency. They are usually overseen by doctors working with nurses. If you need one, you can get tests like an ECG, bloods or x-ray. They are able to diagnose and manage many of the problems people go to A&E for e.g:

  • Coughs, colds and breathing problems
  • High temperature in children and adults
  • Injuries, cuts and bruises
  • Mental health concerns
  • Skin infections and rashes
  • Sprains and strains
  • Stomach pain
  • Suspected broken bones
  • Injuries, cuts and bruises
  • Vomiting and diarrhoea
  • Wound dressing

If a doctor decides you need a prescription, they can organise one for you. Emergency contraception is also available. For further information, see the following links:
