Practice team

Business Manager

Mr Joshua Buckingham

Josh joined the Practice as Business Manager in June 2026, bringing around 10 years’ experience working in a range of operational roles across NHS Secondary Care Trusts. In his role, he retains overall operational and strategic responsibility for the Practice, supporting the Partners and wider team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred services.

Deputy Practice Manager

Mrs Angela Sellar

Angie has a wealth of experience in health care having worked in the locality office and at the then CCG in various administrative roles. She joined Bassett Road in July 2018 and has supported the practice in a variety of roles including finance, IT, staffing and working with our PPG. She was promoted to the role of deputy practice manager in late 2020 having successfully passed her certificate in general practice management.

HR and Wellbeing Lead

Mrs Karen Dignum

Karen joined the practice in 2012 as a part-time receptionist; in 2014 she trained as a phlebotomist and held a dual role for many years building strong relationships with patients and staff alike. In 2024 the surgery introduced a new role of HR and Wellbeing Lead and Karen was successfully appointed. Karen is responsible for the overall wellbeing and development of all staff within the practice. She works intrinsically with Josh and Angie to support with the everyday running of the practice ensuring patient care and staff wellbeing is always at the forefront.

Reception

Our team of receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

The team consists of Jane, Nicky, Becky, Shelley, Jackie, Mary, Suneetha, Michele, Sue, Karen, Heidi, Tomi, Tahira & Tracey.

Secretaries

Our Secretarial Team provides vital administrative support to our clinicians and helps ensure the smooth running of patient services. The team coordinates referrals, manages correspondence between healthcare providers, processes medical reports, and assists with a wide range of non-clinical administrative tasks. Working closely with GPs, hospitals, and community services, they play an important role in supporting patient care and maintaining efficient communication across the healthcare system.

The team consists of Janine, Paula, Sam and Bushra.

Administration Team

Our Administration Team plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the practice and ensuring patient records are maintained accurately and efficiently. The team manages new patient registrations, processes and scans clinical documents, undertakes workflow coding and medical record summarisation, and supports clinicians by ensuring information is directed to the appropriate teams. In addition, they carry out a wide range of administrative duties behind the scenes, helping to keep practice services running smoothly and supporting the delivery of safe, effective patient care.

The team consists of Judy, Julie, Orla, Linda, Debbie, Mary, Jackie and Zac.

Dispensary Team

Our Dispensary Team plays an important role in delivering safe and efficient medication services to many of our patients. As well as managing prescription requests, they run our busy in-house dispensary, preparing and dispensing medicines and providing support with medication-related queries. Working closely with GPs, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals, the team helps ensure patients receive the right medication at the right time, while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

The team consists of Jenny, Kaz, Michelle and Sarah.

Accounts Assistant

Gemma Prime 

As Accounts Assistant, Gemma supports the financial administration of the practice, helping to ensure that financial processes run smoothly and efficiently. Working closely with the management team, she assists with a range of finance-related tasks, including processing invoices, managing payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting budgeting and reporting activities. Gemma’s work plays an important role in helping the practice operate effectively and continue delivering high-quality patient care.
