Temporary Website Downtime

Our website is having a 'facelift' with planned downtime for the handover between the current and the new provider on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th December.  Please therefore make sure you leave a little extra time to request repeat medications over this time.

Extended Access Service

Appointments with GPs and Practice Nurses are now available in the evenings and weekends for patients registered in any of the 3 Leighton Buzzard practices; these are called  ‘Extended Access’ appointments.

When you call to make an appointment we may offer you an ‘Extended Access’ appointment, this appointment will be offered from the Leighton Road Surgery base, and will be with a GP or Practice Nurse from one of the practices across Bedfordshire.

Our reception team will confirm all of the details at the time of booking and if you are registered to receive text message alerts, you will receive a text message to confirm the date, time and location of your appointment.  Please note that, at present, Extended Access appointments are NOT available to book online.

There has been no change to normal surgery appointments which are available as usual including our existing Extended Hours with early morning and late evening appointments on Wednesdays.  If you would prefer to see a GP or Practice Nurse from this practice, please book an appointment during normal opening hours.

Flu vaccination appointments now available

Please note there are three separate Flu vaccinations depending on your age and medical condition. They are as follows:

  • Aged 65 and over
  • Aged 18 - 64 with a medical condition that puts you at risk
  • Children Aged 2 & 3 plus age 17 and under with a medical condition that puts you at risk

Full details are available under 'Further Information' under the Flu & Pneumonia tab.

New Salaried GP

We are very pleased to confirm that Dr Claire Evans has joined the practice as a Salaried GP working Wednesday to Friday each week.  Dr Evans may already be known to some of our patients as she has already worked with us in a locum capacity but we are delighted to welcome her as part of our regular clinical team.

Active Signposting

In common with many of the other practices in Bedfordshire, our reception staff are undergoing special training in order to help patients make contact with the right person to meet their individual needs.  In order for this to be effective, the GPs have asked our reception team to ask our patients a little bit more information about the nature of their problem in order to determine who is the best person to help them.  This could include a member of our practice team (GP, matron, clinical pharmacist, practice nurse, HCA) or one of our community colleagues e.g. in pharmacy, opticians, physiotherapy etc.  The system will be going live on 1st June and we'd be most grateful for your support.  Active Signposting
